It’s no surprise that Apple came out with another line of phones on the same exact day as last year… and the year before that. They are punctual.
The new lineup expensive, but Apple did something new. They made a mid-tier price range phone.
1) The iPhone XR: Priced at $759.99.

I. Its cheap for a reason, they had to cut corners somewhere.
The iPhone XR has 6.1-inch display with a 1792-by-828-pixel resolution at 326 P.P.I. (Pixels per inch) but if we look back about 7 years ago in this month of October, the brand spanking new iPhone 4S came out with an amazing 960-by-640-pixel resolution at 326 P.P.I.
The main selling point is the variety of colors, but what does that have to do with the price tag? Nothing! White, black, blue, yellow, coral, and red. This new phone lacks a much needed rose gold.
The other two new X family phones have one thing in common, IP68 water resistance. This means their water insulation is suitable for up to 2 meters under water (6.5 ft.). More corner cutting however for the cheaper option with IP67 which is a maximum of 1 meter under water (3.25 ft.)
II. So what is good about it?
It’s display is a new frontier that Apple is stepping into with their previous stepping stone, the iPhone X. I already bashed the resolution, but that isn’t what I’m referencing. it has a screen-to-body ratio of 79% while the iPhone 8 sports a 65.6% screen-to-body ratio, which is quite the upgrade.
The picture quality is not an improvement, but the iPhone’s always have amazing picture quality. Mechanical stabilizers to ensure the smoothness of a photo and uses an optical zoom, which are physical moving parts to the camera. As opposed to digital zoom, which is just increasing the size at which you see things on your screen.
2) The iPhone XS and XS Max: Priced at $999.99 and $1099.99

I. The charging glitch
Ever since the release of iOS 12, the iPhone XS and XS Max have had a severe charging problem where the phone wouldn’t charge unless the screen was woken.
In other words, if you plugged your phone in at night, and expected it to be charged by the morning; you’re in for a treat. The phone wouldn’t have started to charge at all! This glitch hasn’t been acknowledged by Apple, but tech enthusiasts are certain it isn’t a hardware problem.
II. The good things that make this phone worth buying.
Apple has finally spent enough time and money trying to reinvent the idea of SIM card support. It only took them a decade to include the support of nano-SIM and eSIM cards. They got it though!
The idea of expandable storage doesn’t limit the memory of your phone base on the size of internal storage. The sentence you just read was the only reason why Apple has never done this before. It is actually such a big deal, that it was one of their main selling points.
This means that you don’t have to shell out the massive $1,349.00 (or $1,449.00) for extra storage when honestly, 64GB is more than enough for storing music and loads of pictures.
The display is a force to be reckoned with. It owns its 5.8 inch display with an amazing 2,436 x 1,125 OLED HDR display like a champion. It has the hardware to actually utilize it too, so the fat price tag on it actually makes sense. The XS Max has the same display just bigger at 6.5 inches. Both have a screen-to-body ratio of 82.9% and 84.4% respectively.
3) I’m not saying this phone is as good as it gets.
As I previously stated, these flagships are just that, flagships. There will be more in the future, more innovations and more expensive phones. For now though, I’ll personally buying a iPhone XS with 64 GB of storage because I’ve had an iPhone 6 for the past 3 years and I’m in need of an upgrade.
Once again, this isn’t the end all be all of phones and next year in October, a new family of iPhones are destined to come out to steal the show and to make the iPhones before it seem not so great and will make you want to buy an upgraded one. That’s how they get you.
I love how you point out the pros and cons of the new phones to where the customer can determine if he/she really needs that phone. The camera is a real big deal because people only get those phones for that, regardless of the other features. I admire how you state the pricing, display quality, problems and even the sim card support. Overall, this blog was very informative.

I really enjoyed this post. I was a big fan of iPhone but I recently switched to the Samsung Galaxy S9 and I couldn’t be happier. I’m a huge fan of the expandable memory, which I see you pointed out on why apple doesn’t do that, and as you mentioned I do feel that many of their cheap newer models aren’t really worth the hype as most of the time they have same processors as very old iPhones with newer screens.
