Time travel.
What would it mean to time travel. What would it mean to see yourself in the future. What if you’re a problem in the future or the past? Should you meddle with it? These 5 titles have their different theories on how time travel would work, and how it is meant to affect your future or past self.
Unfortunately, I can’t dive too deeply into every specific on how they believe it to work. I’ll do my best to explain without ruining the movie or experience.
These movies aren’t ranked in any particular order.
1. Predestination
This movie is mostly about an average person’s, a “John/ Jane Doe” sort of life talking about their past while living their present life. A man walks into a bar to talk about their past, but something seems too familiar to the bartender.
2. Looper
The main protagonist and antagonist depending on your perspective is an agent hired to kill masked prisoners for their crimes. The prisoner’s are sent from the future to the past about 30 years and wait for our hero and villain to murder and dispose of a body that isn’t supposed to exist for another 30 years.
3. Interstellar
This is my favorite movie of all time. Interstellar travel means to travel outside of the solar system. The protagonist, Joseph Cooper is sent on a voyage to outer-space in a spacecraft with a couple of other members to find a habitable planet due to Earth becoming too populated. He leaves behind two children to find a place to live. They are meant to enter a different part of the universe through a wormhole and receive signs of familiarity throughout the movie.

4. Paradox
This entire movie takes place in a single hour. A group of very intelligent people are hired to make the world’s first time machine. They inevitably learn that they should not have, and won’t live to be able to tell the tale.

5. Back to the future (Trilogy)
My hand was forced to add this movie to the list of already limited titles. This movie is the inventor of Sci-fi time travel movies. This movie needs no introduction or explanation. If you haven’t watched these movies, you need to.
Bonus: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
This movie touches time travel and isn’t entirely about time travel like the rest of the movies, but it worth noting. Hermione Granger is given an item to manipulate time somewhere in the middle of the movie and she is able to do things that literally weren’t possible and only had to deal with minor things. This movie was just on this list also because I love the Harry Potter series.
The only movies I enjoy from all of these is the Harry Potter saga. Other than that I don’t really enjoy time travel movies. Great post !
